Project 1- Observation

Introduction

Brighton is a city of contrast. It’s a place where land meets the sea, a city where Mod and Rockers have clashed, and a where day-trippers mix with the day-to day.

Brief
“Create a body of work that explores your observations about contrast. This project lends itself to a photographic outcome, but your project can be produced in any print or digital format, including mark making, moving image, typography, colour, texture, black and white.”

This is the first assignment of this semester. We need to choose one between the subculture or observations. I chose the observations. As an exchange student living in Brighton, nothing can motivate me to understand the culture and history of the city better than this assignment. In order to complete this assignment, I first simulated several different schemes, they all fulfilled the basic requirements of the assignment. On this basis, I choose to one use the way of audio visualization to express my understanding of observations.
When you walk through the streets of Brighton every day, do people notice what’s going on around them and the sounds they make? The seemingly ordinary little things are actually the foundation of the city. I want to use a piece of work to visualize some of the commonly sounds. So the main software of the work is the voice recording app of the Apple phone. In this work, I collected ten different voices, including the sirens, seagulls sound and so on. Reproduce the frequency of the sound, overlay on the photo of the event. After all, ten different voices combined into a long poem or a story, a story only belonging to Brighton.
